Finding the right classic British motorcycle isn’t always easy, especially in New Zealand. That’s where the Angloclassics Bike Finder service comes in. If you’ve got a particular model in mind, we can help track it down through our trusted network in the USA and handle the process of getting it here.
We mainly deal in 1960s and 70s British bikes, with a focus on Triumph, Norton, and BSA models. Triumph Bonnevilles, Tridents, and Norton Commandos are the ones we’ve had the most experience bringing in, but if there’s something specific you’re chasing, we’ll do our best to find it
Start by letting us know what sort of bike you’re after, what condition you’d prefer, and what budget you have in mind. Once we’ve got that info, we’ll begin the search through our US contacts. Depending on what’s available, this part can take a few weeks or sometimes a few months.
When the right bike turns up, we’ll send you detailed photos and information. Things can move fast at this stage, so a quick decision is usually needed before someone else grabs it. Once you give the go-ahead, we’ll confirm the final price. Payment is required within 24–48 hours to secure the bike.
From there, we take care of the logistics. The bike is collected and shipped to our US export point, loaded into a container, and sent to New Zealand. Once it arrives, we inspect it, carry out any necessary work, and handle the compliance and VIN registration process. When that’s complete, it’s ready for you to ride home. We’ll keep you updated the whole way through.
Timelines vary depending on the bike and shipping schedules, but here’s a general idea:
Searching: anywhere from a few days to a few months
Purchase and US domestic shipping: around 3–4 weeks
Container wait and sea freight: usually 1-2 months
Customs and clearance in NZ: about 1 week
Inspection and compliance: 2–4 weeks
All up, the full process typically takes around two to three months, although much of this depends on factors outside our control. Once everything’s done, you can pick the bike up yourself or we can help arrange transport anywhere in New Zealand.
There’s no fixed price because every bike and situation is different. The total depends on the purchase price in the USA, transport, compliance, and any work needed once it arrives. The best way to start is to get in touch for a ballpark estimate based on the model you’re looking for.
If you prefer, you can also take the bike as soon as it arrives and handle the compliance and fine-tuning yourself to save on costs.
