I’ve decided to go with a Pazon electronic ignition for the Triton. It’s less sensitive to low voltage than a Boyer, more affordable than a Tri Spark, and has fantastic reviews. I recently used one on a Norton Commando, and it was an excellent starter. Plus, the Pazon is a local New Zealand product and comes with a 7-year warranty. I purchased the ignition system and a Pazon dual coil, and they arrived the next day!

The next task was figuring out where to mount the ignition. I found that it fits nicely in a vertical position at the front of the frame between the two down tubes. To mount it, I drilled into the frame support bracket and fabricated an additional bracket to bolt the other mounting hole. With two M6x80 bolts, the ignition was securely in place. I’ll paint the bracket next week to finish it off.

I’ve also completed painting the timing and points covers in a sleek matte black. They’re now back on the bike, looking sharp. I plan to grind back the fins on the points cover to achieve that clean metal lines look.

This week has been busy with parts arriving from Andover Triumph, British Motorcycle Parts, and various other suppliers. Among the arrivals was the rocker oil feed pipe, so it’s back to planning the oil line routing. The challenge is that the oil return line from the engine, the rocker oil feed, and the oil filter intake are all different sizes. I think I’ve figured it out and am just waiting for the final parts to arrive. Stay tuned for more updates on this.

The headlight also arrived, and I opted for a matte black Lucas type. It’s a bit different, and I like that. I’m using chrome headlight brackets to mount it, and the test fit looks great. Additionally, I’ve installed small chrome turn signals using brackets mounted just below the headlight brackets on the stanchions. They complement the build nicely.

Another highlight was the arrival of a stunning Commando TLS brake from Don Pender. It includes the brake stiffening kit and new pads. Don’s products are top-notch, and this brake is no exception.

I’ve also placed another substantial order from Norton Race Parts and a seat from Tab Classics. These should arrive in 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, next week’s focus will be on starting the wiring.
